THINGS I TRIPPED OVER ON THE INTERNET TODAY, NOV 10
Thing #1 - Gentrification bingo
This bingo, while funny, represents everything that is happening in Orlando at the moment. Are these gentrification trends? Is there a guidebook to making your City cool? What’s happening here and why do I feel like I’m being Inceptioned.
Thing #2 - This completely Primal new cartoon
Have you ever watched “Samurai Jack” before? It’s a silent-ish animated series about a Samurai displayed in time by an evil demon that killed his family. The main character barely speaks and the animation is flawless and beautiful. As an artist, I would love watching it online so I could screen grab the scenic shots.
Well, the dude behind it, Genndy Tartakovsky, has just released a new show called “Primal” about a caveman named Spear who loses his family to a dinosaur and then comes to terms with his loss by giving in to his own primal nature and befriending an unlikely ally. It’s epic, it’s bloody as hell, and ultimately, really really gorgeous.
Thing #3 - Color demons from outer space kill Nicolas Cage’s family
I don’t really need to say more than that title, right? “Color Out Of Space” is a new movie that will be in theaters in January 2020 and it looks terribly fantastic. I want to know everything there is to know about it, immediately.
Commence rabbit hole.
Thing #4 - Henry Cavill naked in a bathtub
“The Witcher” is based on a fantasy game I’ve never really had any interest in but this movie seems suspiciously sexy and has put the “Superman” actor in a gorgeous Legolas wig and in a bathtub with his sexy knee showing. So, obviously, I’ll be there opening night. Yay, swords and sexy sandals!
Thing #5 - A dude that hates noise seeks silence in nature
Adam Loften and Emmanuel Vaughan-Lee go on a journey with acoustic ecologist, Gordon Hempton, as he attempts to get lost in the heart of Hoh Rain Forest in Washington State - one of the last remaining regions in the world that are absolutely absent of human-made noise.
The video is 360-degrees so you can click and pull on it with your mouse to see what’s happening around the filmmakers. Super-awesome, and I’m guessing it would look good in your VR giggle goggles.
Thing #6 - An Instagram mashup of “Call Me By Your Name” and Monet
What a genius use of Instagram and collage. I’m such a nerd about digital collage that I’m always collecting images on my desktop to look through later. So when I came across this one I new it was deserving of a roundup.
Call Me by Monet is an Instagram that mashes up Monet paintings with scenes from the hit movie, “Call Me By Your Name” about a teenage boy falling in lust with his father’s teaching assistant over a summer vacation.
