Oscar Viewing Party to support the kiddies
On Sunday, March 12, my man, Scottie Campbell, and myself, got gussied up and paraded ourselves to the new Winter Park Events Center at the fancy new library in Winter Park for an Oscar viewing party that some friends of ours were hosting.
The evening was in support of the Singhaus Scholarship for the Performing Arts, which awards funding to LGBT+ peeps looking to pursue a formal education and career in theater, in honor of our friends Sam, Marcy, and Steve Singhaus who all passed away in a relatively short span of time and left us all reeling.
Marcy and Steve were big-time arts supporters and Marcy designed a number of dresses for a RuPaul alums like Ginger Minj and local theater groups and Sam was one of the best drag queens and humans I’ve ever known. He also painted my face for the first time when I went to a party at the Orlando Museum of Art so it’s his fault I still get dressed up because I felt what it was like to be pretty for the first time in my life and became addicted.
Anyway, here are some fun photos of that night. I loved hearing the video testimonials from the most recent award recipients, all queer kids doing their thing.
