Celebrity bartending gig helps to raise over $30,000
My pal Todd Ulmer invites me to come play in his sandbox every holiday season in support of his family foundation, which raises funds to save Christmas for local struggling families. And I happily say yes, because I get to have a few free drinks and see some friends while simultaneously helping people - win-win!
Todd hosted this year’s event at The 808, a Hawaiian-themed restaurant and bar in Thornton Park, with a slew of his favorite local celebs, including me, working 30-minute/hour-long shifts serving cocktails. Tickets were $20 to get in which included an open bar and then we would collect tips from the patrons to throw into the communal bucket.
At the end of the day, we were successful in raising $32,000 for local families. So great. I’m fairly confident that I helped raise about $50 of that … which is probably enough to buy a Nerf gun.
