Promoting a book with experiences versus lectures
So, I co-authored a book recently called “100 Things To Do in Orlando Before You Die” with my radio show co-host and friend, Jon Busdeker. It’s a completely new game for me and something I’m completely unfamiliar with, in regard to the publishing world.
Our publisher, Reedy Press, has been very hands-on in regards to asking us to host as many book signing events as possible to promote the release and drum up some more sales - the problem is, sitting around and signing books is super boring and not a great use of my time when I should be in the office writing news blurbs or chasing down the next hyper-local news story. SO, Jon and I decided to make things a bit more event-driven.
Since the book itself is all about experiences, we’ll be hosting a series of events that take people to things we cover in the book and we’re including a copy of the book in the ticket price. The first event we hosted was with Epic Paddle Adventures which has a glow paddleboard experience on Lake Ivanhoe and we had an AMAZING time.

Holler at WESH 2 for inviting us on to chat about the event too! Watch our interview HERE.
