Lonely dead tree gets topped with festive bird house

This old red cedar snag has been standing by the side of Colonial Drive for as long as I’ve lived in Orlando. It’s in the Mills 50 District, just across the street from Publix and right by the Florida Safety Council where bad drivers go to pretend they’ve changed their ways.

I’ve always been on the look out for a large birdhouse or dollhouse to top the tree with but could never find exactly what I was looking for so I just whipped this one up with some duct tape, polystyrene sheets, and some spray paint.

It’s been up there for months and is still holding strong. Wired it tight to the limbs so it wouldn’t get knocked off into traffic or onto a passing pedestrian absorbed with their phone.
